The Best Summer Beach Reads

The Best Summer Beach Reads

It seems like everywhere I turn I find people talking about back to school already! What's the rush guys? There are still a few luxurious weeks of summer left to enjoy, so why not make the most of them? If you haven't already had a few lazy summer afternoons with a book and a beach, now is the time! To help you make the most of the rest of August, here are my picks for the best summer beach reads.

For Thrills...

Summer is a great time for fun, escapist reading and there's nothing quite like an intelligent thriller to fill that category. Pick up a copy of the recently released Into The Water by Paula Hawkins, author of The Girl On the Train, or one of Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn's other well-rated novels like Sharp Objects or Dark Places.

For Love...

If you read my Summer Reading List, you already know that I think summer is the perfect time for a love story. In addition to the suggestions on that list, I recommend The Between Boyfriends Book by Cindy Chupack and Modern Love by Aziz Ansari & Eric Klinenberg. These aren't quite your traditional love stories and will have you thinking about dating and romance in a whole new way.

For Fashion...

I just finished reading a satirical rom-com trilogy by Kevin Kwan that includes the titles Crazy Rich Asians, China Rich Girlfriend, and Rich People Problems. While these books have everything you'd expect from a fun rom-com, one of the things that stood out most to me what the intricate descriptions of couture and designer fashion. If you're a fashionista planning your fall wardrobe, these books will leave you salivating for style.

For Inspiration...

As summer starts to wind down, it's a perfect time to start thinking about our goals and aspirations for the new season. Whether you're heading back-to-school or not, September is a great time to check in on those new year's resolutions and revise them for the last quarter of 2017. For some inspiration and motivation before heading into autumn, I recommend Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert and The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. In case you missed it, I've written past blog posts on each of these books. For more info on Big Magic, click here, and for the full scoop on The Happiness Project, click here.

No matter what you decide to read, make sure you spend the next few weeks soaking up as much of summer as you can! And if you have a moment, leave a comment and let me know what you're reading these days.
