Plan With Me: October 2017
As I mentioned in my last post, October is going to be a really busy month for me. Since I'll be travelling a lot and won't be following my regular routine, I decided to switch things up in my bullet journal a little more than usual. My hope is that these new layouts will help me manage a busy month with a little more ease.
In the past, my first page has always been a blank "brain dump page" but I've been finding that I don't use it very much. I've also noticed that certain other sections like my chore tracker and my blog's monthly content calendar don't need that much space either. To save paper and to keep important things all in one place, I decided to consolidate them on a single page. This way I don't have to flip through as many pages to find what I'm looking for and I still have room on that first page for any random notes I'll need to jot down throughout the month. In terms of a theme for this month, I kept it really simple and minimalist with just a few decorative arrows and a single ice-blue accent colour. Since I don't anticipate having a lot of time to devote to bullet journaling this month I thought a simple theme would be my best bet.
If you read my recent post on Packing Tips For The Frequent Flyer you'll know that I'm doing some serious planning to make my many trips this month go smoothly. On the left side of this page is a master packing list for the whole month that I can refer back to for each of my three trips. I talked about this in more detail in my last post, but now I've gotten around to actually adding the list to my bullet journal. The expense tracker on the right side is one of the few things that hasn't changed. This layout really works for me so I'm sticking to it!
Finally, I decided to start doing daily spreads as well as weekly spreads this month. I want to start using my bullet journal as more of an actual journal as well as a day planner/organizational tool. Here you can see a more compressed weekly layout with smaller boxes for me to keep track of that week's tasks and deadline. On the facing page is where I am going to start doing my dailies. That's where I'll include each day's specific to-dos as well as daily journaling. My hope is that this new method will encourage me to write more and document this month's travels while I'm at it.
Finally, since I'll be out of my usual routine this month I decided to nix my monthly habit tracker and go with a mini weekly tracker instead. I know it's not realistic to keep up with my regular habits while I'm travelling to I decided not to set myself up for failure! I'm really excited to give this new layout a try.
What do you have planned for the month of October?
