Natural Beauty Masks
This post is in collaboration with Thomas Allen & Son.
Over the past few months, I've been slowly changing up my makeup and skincare routines in favour of products that are simpler, more natural, and budget-friendly. So when I heard about Natural Beauty Masks and Other Homemade Scrubs and Lotions by Caroline Artiss, which is full of recipes for natural, homemade skincare and beauty products, I jumped at the chance to get my hands on a copy. Here's a little sneak peak at this new title which will definitely appeal to all the natural beauty-lovers out there.
Natural Beauty Masks is full with dozens of recipes for simple face masks, hair treatments, body scrubs, and more that you can make yourself with natural ingredients you likely already have in your pantry. I'm not much of a DIY person, but these recipes were easy enough even for me and didn't require going to any specialty shops to get the right ingredients.
I don't think I've mentioned this before on the blog, but I am obsessed with exfoliating. I love the clean and fresh feeling I get from giving my skin a good proper scrub. So it was a no-brainer for me to try out one of the book's exfoliating recipes first. I dove in and whipped up a batch of Artiss's Brown Sugar, Vanilla, and Olive Oil Body Scrub which combines the exfoliating power of brown sugar with the moisturizing power of olive oil, which is also rich in antioxidants. This scrub left my skin feeling healthy, revitalized, and nourished, and I love that I can easily name and pronounce every single ingredient! While natural beauty products like this are great for the body, they're also so great for the environment since all the ingredients are bio-degradable and there is no need for any plastic packaging. I simply whipped up a batch in a regular bowl and stored the extra in a tightly sealed mason jar where it will keep for up to 2 weeks.
If you're looking to incorporate more neutral beauty products into your routine, I can't recommend this book enough. With its wealth of recipes for beauty masks, hair masks, body scrubs, nail treatments, hand & foot treatments, and more this book has literally got your natural beauty needs covered from head to toe. With so many recipes to choose from, you can curate an entire natural beauty regime with nothing both homemade products and natural ingredients. Plus, with the benefits of each individual ingredient listed in the book's introduction, you can also start creating your own products specially curated for your needs by adapting Artiss's recipes.
What do you think? Have you ever tried making your own natural beauty products?
