As you read this, I am lying on a beach somewhere on an island in Turks & Caicos. If you live in Canada, February is always the coldest month of the year, which makes it the best time to travel to someplace warm and sunny. Even though it hasn’t been too cold in Toronto this year, it has been incredibly overcast and I’ve really been craving some sunshine and vitamin D. I’m hoping by the time I get back home winter will be on its way out, but meanwhile, here’s a little life update.
Reading: I know I put all my books for school on my reading list this month, but I’m taking a break from them while I’m on holiday. Instead I’m going back to my December reading list and catching up on some titles I didn’t have time to finish over the holidays and had to put aside when the new semester started. I’m also indulging in some fashion magazines my stepmom and I picked up at the airport.
Watching: Nothing right now since I’m unplugging while on holiday! But before I left I was really into watching reruns of Say Yes to the Dress. I know it’s a little silly, but some friends of mine got engaged over the Christmas holidays and it put me in a wedding mood!
Listening to: A friend recently introduced me to the Freakonomics Radio podcast and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I’ve devoured the first few episodes I downloaded and will definitely be getting more. I recommend the episodes on Handwriting, The Suicide Paradox, and the recent interview with Trevor Noah.
Working on: I’m currently working on polishing up the first two chapters of my book in order to include them in my proposal. I’ve been conducting more interviews lately and doing a lot of boring transcriptions but I’ve gotten some really great insights and commentary that I’m excited to include in my manuscript. That being said, this week in particular is a total break from work of all kinds!
Dreaming of: Spring! I know it’s waaay to early to get excited and I know we’re likely to get a couple more snowfalls before the end of the season, but being here in Turks & Caicos has got me excited for warmer days back home.
How is your February? What have you been working on lately?
