One Bag or Bust: Vegas!
Around the same time that I wrote a blog post about travelling to Mexico with nothing but a carry-on, I decided to collaborate with Vegas.com on their Las Vegas Essentials project. It seems that we'd been thinking along the same lines, because they asked me to imagine my perfect minimalist Vegas vacation. What would I bring for a weekend in Sin City if I could only take a single piece of luggage?
Since they know Vegas best, the team prepared a handy list of essentials for a weekend in their hometown. I've added a few essentials of my own (try and guess which are mine!), so between the two of us we've got you covered any time to feel like hopping on a plane for a weekend in wonderland.
For some shopping inspiration, I've collected some examples below. I never thought I would wear a fanny-pack, but it looks like they're making a comeback with some luxury designers.
Now that we're all packed, it's time to plan the perfect weekend. I'm not into theme hotels, so I think I'd be happiest at somewhere like the Bellagio. It feels fancy and luxurious without trying to trick you into thinking you're in Paris or Italy. They've also got a fine art gallery which is right up my alley.
When it comes to shows, I'm definitely a Cirque du Soleil girl. My grandma had a VHS tape of one of their shows back in the early 90s and my brother and I watched it over and over and over again. I've been lucky enough to see them perform in Toronto, but Vegas has some incredible Cirque shows that are definitely a must-see.
Since I'm not much of a gambler, my money will be traded in for fashion instead of chips. The Fashion Show Mall is the place for me with everything from Free People to Zara to Tiffany & Co.
But after all that shopping and sightseeing, I'll definitely be hitting the nightclubs. After all, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
