New Year's Eve always makes me think "glamour," and it's the start of 2017 that originally inspired this look. But that being said, this dramatic smokey eye and bright red lip is perfect for any glam night-out you have coming up this winter.
To create this look I started with the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation. Since this glam look includes both a smokey eye and a bold lip, I wanted to keep my skin pretty neutral with a matte foundation.
I have pretty dark circles under my eyes so on a night out I'll apply Tarte CC Under-Eye Corrector as a base. This pink pigment helps colour-correct dark circles when used under a regular concealer. I love Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer for under my eyes because the formula is quite liquid which makes it easy to blend without tugging too much at that delicate skin. For any blemishes on my face, I use Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly. It's thicker than the Urban Decay concealer so I find it stayed put much better over any little spots I want to hide. Finally, I set my face makeup with powder. Currently I'm using Sephora Matte Perfection Powder.
To add some dimension to this look, I used the Lise Watier Portfolio Sculpting Trio. This set has two contour colours and a highlight. In the winter, I use the lighter of the contour shades under my cheekbones and up around my temples. After applying it with a contour brush, I blend it out quite aggressively with a fluffy powder brush to avoid looking like a Kardashian and to keep the focus of this look on the eyes and lips. To bring a little colour back into my cheeks, I finished my face with my favourite MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul. This is a lovely dusty rose that adds really subtle colour while still keeping the face nice and neutral.
For the eyes, I exclusively used the Makeup Forever Artist Pallet in Nudes. On the brow-bone, eyelid, and inner-corner of the eye I used I-528, an icy, sparkly white. In the outer corner, crease, and along the lower lash line I blended in S-556, a smokey grey. Finally, I smudged a very small amount of S-102, a pure black, into the crease. I do really mean a very small amount of black. This is just to add extra depth and shadow to the look, and the key is to blend that black out really well so the makeup stays nice and soft.
Next, I finish my eyes with a sweep of L'Oreal Telescopic Liquid Liner, two good coats of mascara, and a squeeze of my lash curler. I filled in my brows just a touch with my NYX Microbrow Pencil, like I do for an everyday look. I'm lucky to be blessed with brows that don't need too much attention!
Finally, I finish the look with a generous glide of my favourite matte red lipstick. I'm currently wearing this one by Maybelline. Nothing says winter glamour like a shimmery and frosty smokey eye paired with a bright red lip.
