Take Your Look from Day to Night in 3 Easy Steps
This post is sponsored by Michael Hill. All opinions are my own.
If you're anything like me, you spend most of your time bouncing between work, school, blogging, and writing, all while trying to juggle a decent social life. Everyone's busy these days and, more often than not, I'm finding myself running out to a dinner or party with my laptop still slung over one shoulder. Especially this time of year when there is so much to do and so many people to see, it's not always possible for me to head home and change my outfit or redo my makeup before a party. But, with a little help from Michael Hill, I've come up with three easy ways to take our outfit from day to night.
1. Liquid Liner - I usually can't be bothered to fuss with liquid liner first thing in the morning, but adding it to my look before heading to a party instantly kicks my makeup up a notch. Plus it's tiny and super easy to throw in my handbag before heading out the door.
2. A Bold Lip - I always carry two lipsticks in my purse just in case I don't have time to go home or if spontaneous night out materializes. In addition to my everyday nude lipstick, I've always got a bolder colour in my bag for backup. Nothing says night-time glamour quite like a statement lip.
3. Change Up Your Jewellery - Accessories can make an outfit, and when you don't have time to change, they can go miles and miles toward helping you transition from day to night. When I'm writing in a coffee shop or researching at the library, I love a simple feather pendant necklace from Michael Hill, but when work is over, I switch it up for one of their more glamorous diamond necklaces. The beauty of Michael Hill is that their designs are so varied. You can easily find pieces for any occasion where it's work-hour or happy-hour. Plus, a lovely bonus touch is that their jewellery comes delivered in beautiful little boxes that you can pop in your purse so your accessories stay safe while you're on the go.
No matter how busy I get, I don't want to let my work compromise my social life. I've been known to get night-time ready in office bathrooms, at friend's houses, and (once) I even got ready for a first date in a subway station. But the transition from day to night doesn't have to be hard if you've got a little help. All you need in your handbag is two key pieces of makeup and Michael Hill.
