What's In My Overnight Makeup Bag

I pride myself in my ability to pack light. When I go on a quick overnight trip, I want to be able to hop in the car with nothing but a little backpack and my regular handbag. I try and have a relatively minimalist approach to life in general but minimalism becomes extra important to me when I have to schlep myself and my stuff out of town.
The problem is when it comes to makeup, I really struggle with minimalism. I definitely have more than I need and it's taken me a few tries to figure out how to pack for an overnight trip without weighing my bag down with products.
Since I've been going back and forth to my hometown a lot more recently, I've finally figured out what belongs in my go-to overnight makeup bag.
When I'm going on a quick trip I skip full foundation and pack my Smashbox BB Cream, this is perfect for travel because it primes the skin and protects it with SPF 35 so I don't need to pack sunscreen or foundation primer.
I can't live without concealer so that goes in the bag next; currently I'm using Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. To set my face makeup I always finish with a powder. Sephora Perfection Powder Foundation is great because it's a build-able powder that can give fuller coverage. When I'm not packing liquid foundation, I want a powder that can compensate for the lightness of a BB Cream.
I'm not hugely into contouring for an everyday look so I just pack my NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna to give my face dimension and colour. I bought the travel size of this duo and it's perfect both for everyday and getaways.
For eyes, I bring my Smash box Travel-Size Full Exposure Palette. This is really all you need since it has eight shades including four matte and four shimmer. I usually end up wearing the mattes but if I have a fun night out on my overnight away, the shimmers are there to help me step it up. I'm obsessed with how teeny-tiny this pallet is. It really couldn't be any smaller and you still get eight shades! Another thing I love is that these double as my eyeliner. Just dip your brush in water and you've got liner.
I never wear mascara without lash primer, and I never wear makeup without mascara, so I always bring my Tarte Opening Act Lash Primer + Mini Lights Camera Lashes Mascara. When you buy the Tarte Lash Primer, it comes with the mini mascara so that's all you need!
Brows are simple. I just bring my NYX Microbrow Pencil. Not much to say about this one except that it comes with a brow brush on one end so that's also one less thing I have to pack.
Last are lips and this is where I let myself go crazy and pack two of something. Even in my everyday life, I never go anywhere without a nude or pale pink lipstick and a red lipstick in my handbag. I usually go for a natural lip during the day, but if I'm out and don't have time to touch up my makeup before evening or if unexpected plans come up, a red lip comes to the rescue! It's the easiest and fastest way to take your look from day to night and you never know what adventures might come up on your overnight away. Currently I'm loving Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in No. 17 and Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm In Enticing.
